More and more fad diets, fat loss drugs and risky surgeries are promoted by marketers everyday, promising the "miracle cure" to all who suffer from excess weight.


Do Diets Work?

Any weight loss plan, drug or surgery, with it's entire focus on just losing weight, is destined to fail. Why, you ask? Simple. It goes back to the old proverb: "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day; teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime."

This proverb can easily be applied to weight loss: "Put a man on a diet and he'll lose weight for a day; teach him to lose weight and he'll live a healthy life."

Fad diets put all their focus on just losing weight quickly. They fail to teach anyone how to properly eat from day to day, so once the diet is over, in most cases the weight sky rockets back up. The same goes for pills and surgeries.


So What Can You Do?

Learn. Learn what affects your body. Learn what to change. Learn how to change. Learn what to change and why. Asking and finding the answers to these questions will teach you how to keep that weight off for the rest of your life.

Choosing to lose weight from at home also presents it's own form of perks and challenges. This will give you the chance to work at your own pace and provides you with the freedom to build a weight loss plan that's perfect for you. No one else will give you the time commitment that you can give yourself.

On the plus side, none of the challenges are deal breakers. In some cases, the challenges, such as not having access to a gym, are personal preferences anyway. The only thing you need is the knowledge and dedication to get started today, and of course, some extra weight loss help goes a long way too!
